Het driekoppige ensemble uit Mechelen, België, werd opgericht in 2013 en weet sindsdien het publiek te boeien met hun unieke mix van repetitieve riffs, tribaleske percussie en schurende baslijnen. In Pothamus' raadselachtige wereld staat de zoektocht naar betekenis centraal. Terwijl ze Oosterse filosofie en Westerse esoterie vermengen tot een unieke ontologie, keert de band terug naar de basisprincipes van muziek: samenkomen en wegdromen. Pothamus' sound is een sonische verkenning en creëert een meeslepende ervaring die het alledaagse overstijgt en het diepe induikt.

Het trio bracht in 2020 haar eerste volledige album 'Raya' uit. Het debuut was een direct bewijs van hun unieke sound en toewijding aan hun vak. Het werd geprezen door zowel fans als critici (MetalHammer, Decibel Magazine, Rock Tribune) en baande de weg langs een aantal bekende Belgische podia (Ancienne Belgique, Trix, Vooruit) en internationale festivals (ESNS, ArcTanGent, Motocultor, Alcatraz). In februari 2025 brachten ze hun langverwachte tweede album 'Abur' uit via Pelagic Records, waarmee ze hun luisteraars opnieuw meenemen op een betoverende odyssee. De opname, mixage en mastering werden verzorgd door Chiaran Verheyden, bekend van o.a. Psychonaut, Hippotraktor.

Pothamus is meer dan zomaar een band; ze zijn een kanaal voor verbinding. Ze bieden een sonische reis die het publiek uitnodigt om de diepten van zowel geluid als betekenis te verkennen en samen te delen.
